  • General Elections are held once every two years during odd numbered years.
  • Council member terms are staggered: the mayor and the other two council members will be elected in 2015; the terms of remaining three council members expire at the end of 2017.
  • Council members are elected at large by the voters of the entire municipality by simple plurality of the votes cast; i.e. if five people run for the two council seats up for election, the two candidates with the highest number of votes are elected.

2015 Municipal Election
The election for the office of mayor currently held by Lois Salter and the two city council seats currently held by Rebecca Spitler and Bob Smith will be conducted on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at City Hall, 4040 South Berkeley Lake Road between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Qualifying for this election will take place beginning at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 31, 2015 and ending at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2015.  The qualifying fee is $150.00 for mayor and $27.00 for council seats.

Important dates for this election are:
August 31 through September 3, 2015 - Qualifying for candidates
October 5, 2015 - Last day to register to vote in November election
October 12, 2015 - First day to vote early at city hall beginning at 11:00 AM.
October 12, 2015 - First day absentee ballots available for mailing
October 29, 2015 - Last day to vote early at city hall by 4:00 PM.
November 3, 2015 - Election Day at city hall, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
